Breaker Refurbishment & Retrofitting Project
Wimann Electrical Group SA continues to deliver professional breaker refurbishment, retrofitting, transformer maintenance, and heavy current electrical services across South Africa. This project showcases the refurbishment and modernization of GEC J&P Oil Circuit Breakers for a major client project currently underway.
PROJECT DETAILS
This project involved the refurbishment and retrofitting of a GEC J&P 400A Oil Circuit Breaker with a 1250A Magvatech Unit. The retrofit enhances operational reliability, improves performance, and significantly extends the service life of the equipment.
These breakers represent units 9 and 10 of a 50-unit refurbishment program currently being completed for a valued client. With these units finalized, approximately 20% of the overall project has now been completed.
By successfully completing this refurbishment and retrofitting project, the expected operational lifespan of the plant can potentially be extended by an additional 20 to 30 years. This provides significant long-term value to the client while reducing the need for costly full-scale equipment replacement.
BEFORE REFURBISHMENT
The original breaker showed clear signs of wear, contamination, and age-related deterioration prior to refurbishment. Equipment in this condition may compromise operational reliability and increase maintenance risk.
AFTER REFURBISHMENT
Following detailed refurbishment and retrofitting procedures, the breaker was restored to a clean, professional, and service-ready condition. The completed unit reflects Wimann Electrical’s commitment to quality workmanship and long-term operational reliability.
